Very Touching
Posted by Jeff on Sunday February 08, @06:43PM
from the dept.
My mother was diagnosed with bulbar onset ALS.
Your story is very touching and brings tears to my eyes. My mother was diagnosed Dec 27, 2003 with the bulbar onset ALS. Her breathing is now at 64% and the doctors want to get her on a feeding tube soon. She still has mobility but no talking, trouble breathing, swallowing, etc. I am amazed at how fast this disease progresses and strikes down amazing people in their prime. My prayers are with all victims and families of ALS.

Jeff - ALS progresses very rapidly. It is just terrible . My Dad was diagnosed with Bulbar ALS in March 2001 - and passed away in August 2002 . It was fast - and it is just awful to " watch" your loved one suffer . My Dad was a very strong man - and fortunately I was able to stay strong as I cared for him. My prayers are with you and your family. I admire your courage and also , of course , the courage of Joyce's family and Joyce herself as they ( and she) face this disease. Patti
